Volunteer Treasurer (Board Member)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda (BBBS) is seeking a Treasurer reporting directly to the Board of Directors.  BBBS is an established charitable organization committed to providing children, primarily from single parent homes, with positive and caring role models.  Through these professionally supported, one-on-one relationships, our children are able to build lasting relationships that enhance their emotional, social, and recreational well-being.


The main responsibilities are monthly financial reporting, annual budget preparation, cash management, including approving monthly payments and managing payroll, preparing annual financial statements for audit and managing the audit firm relationship and 3rd party reporting (i.e. Department of Statistics).  The Treasurer presents the monthly financial reports at the monthly Board meetings.

The Treasurer is supported by the Office Coordinator who is responsible for bank deposits and cash receipts input.  The Treasurer is also supported by the Managing Director who is responsible for generating donations revenue for the Agency, programmes and managing all aspects of marketing for the Agency.

Time Requirements

Normally 3-4 hours per month, which include 1-hour monthly Board meetings.

Recommended Qualifications

Accounting or bookkeeping background with experience handling financial statement audits (professional accounting designation preferable).
